Embracing the Spirit of India

8.7.2013

Hi everyone.

It’s been ages since my last blog. I’ve been busy here in Darwin over the past few weeks working on some digital projects and a marketing campaign for India @ Mindil - Embrace the Spirit of India.

The open-air food and cultural festival at Mindil beach on June 22 boasted a mix of Indian cuisine, dance, music, art and education and is one of Darwin’s biggest cultural extravaganzas of the year.

I have been a part of the Indian Cultural Society for over 20 years and have taken part each year (dancing and acting). This year I decided to put my marketing hat on to assist the society in promoting the event.

What did we do? The Perth team created a design concept that made everyone in the committee jump of their seats! The resulting campaign comprised posters, flyers, newspaper and magazine ads right through to a 15 second TV commercial which aired across key TV stations in Darwin.

Yes, I was one of the MC’s for the night – once you give me a microphone you can’t get it off my hands. I had a fantastic time! With over 10,000 people attending, the festival was a great success.

The creative we developed was excellent and everyone, including key stakeholders and sponsors were impressed. The ICS committee was very pleased with the outcome and commented that: “Adcorp did a fantastic job; the TVC was amazing and the posters were noticed across the CBD. Rekha went over and beyond to get the best media rates and placements.”

This is the second time that Adcorp has developed a marketing campaign for the festival and no doubt next year will be bigger and better.
