Sometimes you see a brand that you’d love to work with. For us, that brand was King Furniture, and we decided that we would try our luck and get in front of them to show our capabilities.

Since that moment, this project has been a labour of love for the whole team involved. It has been ongoing for well over a year and to see it go live to such widespread acclaim has been extremely rewarding.

We officially kicked off the King Furniture website project in June 2013. A huge amount of work has gone into getting it ‘live’ since that point, but working with such a fantastic brand enabled us to produce some of our most creative executions from a design and development perspective. We were tasked with creating a contemporary eCommerce website that pushed the boundaries of web design to reflect the design ideals that King Furniture have established since their inception in 1977.

King invited us to a number of training sessions so we could learn their product range plus the advanced technology and innovation that sets them apart from their competitors. We then conducted a thorough review of the existing site and put together a visual sitemap of the new structure. Together with the King marketing team we amended and established an approved site structure before producing three individual design concepts. Each concept was well received and elements from each came together to form the final approved concept that went into production.

Including the mobile website we produced over 250 individual page template designs, each extremely customised and using contemporary web design techniques. One of the keys to this project was the eCommerce element. With a high level of customisation required we built a bespoke system from scratch using Symphony CMS. This was an incredible achievement as there is a huge amount of work involved in setting up eCommerce functionality and we did this through the development of wireframes and careful planning between the design and development teams.

The end result was one that surpassed the expectations of everyone involved. The client was over the moon and the Adcorp team was proud to see all of our hard work come together to form a cutting edge website that we can be proud of for years to come. This was topped off by the recent batch of W3 awards that the website won in the categories of Consumer Goods, Corporate Communications, Marketing and Shopping – a fantastic result for a fantastic project.
