Welcome to Darwin

Darwin view and Rekha

From London, India, Wollongong to the NT, people might think I have travelled the world and it certainly feels that way.

As they say here in Darwin after 3 years you are a true Territorian and that I am. I have lived in Darwin for over 20 years and clearly I have stayed here because I love the lifestyle, multiculturalism, convenience and the friendly people.

Darwin is a growing place with an increasing population, property boom and with the various Oil and Gas projects the economy in my opinion has never looked so good and that is why I am seizing the opportunity in building our brand.

When I first got off the plane here in Darwin, I knew that I was going to eat all the chocolate in the world but little did I know fate had its own agenda.

As a little girl I loved watching Bollywood movies and still do. To be a part of my vibrant culture, I have taken part in many cultural events from dancing, singing to even acting. However, this was never going to be career path more like a hobby.

The stereotypical family always wanted me to be a Doctor but with my fear of going to see the Doctors that never happened instead I joined the world of marketing and advertising.

I graduated from Charles Darwin University (CDU) and with my background in Market Research I did a lot of volunteer work for a range of local companies.

Having built strong relationships at the University, I started my career as a Marketing Officer at CDU. Here, I learnt and experienced all facets of marketing. The opportunities here were vast and some of the highlights of my career was working on successful student recruitment campaigns and applying market research skills to evaluating events and general services provided by the University.

After 3 years I joined an advertising agency and soon landed a role as an Account Director at Adcorp.

Looking back at all my experiences, I love working for Adcorp and strive on starting conversation with local companies.

My attributes are that I have a very good understanding of the market and with over 5 years of media planning and buying experience many existing clients enjoy the fact that we have a local presence and obviously I feel that our negotiation skills with the media exceed over any other agency here in Darwin.

When you here about the NT you think about Crocodiles, beautiful sunsets, the Outback, and the Indigenous Culture but when I hear the NT I call it my home.

Let’s start a conversation.
