Why ‘Going Digital’ is so Important

SEO = Growth, Advertising, Commerce, Success, Suppliers, Reputation, Revenue, Business, Sales, Partners, Customers.

The world has evolved into a busy concrete jungle of technology and mass of complicated information. It was once more simple than this but that is the past, and to stay ahead, to stay alive – we as human beings must adapt to any change in order to survive. We must adapt for the future.

Before you read this digital post with intimidating technological words, think about this. Think about the power of the internet and its influence over individuals and businesses alike. Think about how it teaches and informs us all. How it provides educational research and historical facts and information. And on a more emotional level, how the internet brings us all together through websites that nurture relationships and help maintain friendships across the Globe.

Traditional businesses will die out if they do not jump on the digital bandwagon and create a presence online.

Think of the potential online audience for your business – billions of people  around the world are waiting to be inspired and positively influenced by your company.

By using the internet there is an opportunity to instil longevity in your brand through becoming a valuable resource to your target market.  There is a copious amount of tools available to keep your audience interested.

Want to know more than basics? Don’t worry, that’s where we come in to help.

Before we can even apply digital marketing techniques to your objectives you need to think about the most important element of all: your target audience. Who are they? Where are they? What do they like to do? You get the idea. The internet is a noisy place. You’ll need to speak up more if you want to be listened, otherwise they will hear your competitor louder and clearer. Once we know all the facts about your audience, then digital marketing and Search Engine Optimisation can be applied effectively.

Digitally speaking, quality entails everything from standing out on Search Engines, high resolution images, easy to use website navigation system, well written content and basically anything that helps enhance a customer/clients experience.

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is a  internet marketing strategy to improve the quality of websites to be better seen on search engines (like Google, Bing or Yahoo!) so they can stand out ahead of their competitors on the page results. And what happens when you’re at the top of Google or any other search engine? You increase your chances of attracting the audience you want, and you better your chances of keeping them.

Link building is another technique we can use to push your website to the top of the search list.

What is link building?

In beginner’s terms, Link building is a process where you reach out to other websites across the internet and through various strategies (many of which are free), to try and get them to link back to a page on your own website.

Let’s make this easier to understand. Let’s pretend you are a cleaner working and living in Perth, Western Australia. You have a brand new business website that shows off your cleaning services. The website looks and reads fantastic, however, when you type into Google the keywords “cleaner Perth” – your cleaning website does not show up at the top, or even in the first page of the Google page results.

So what went wrong?

Just like in the real world; you need to build what I like to call –‘viral word of mouth’ online. Link Building is an effective and popular method to help do just this. It will help create buzz and ‘conversation’ around your website from external sites that will bring you more visitors, more exposure and more money. This will get you great SEO and Google will give you a very good page rank on the results page.

A popular (and free) Link Building method includes simply asking a website host to link to your website from their useful links page and you reciprocate. It’s important to know how to write up a professional and strategic email (non-spam like) where they can see how the link-swap will benefit their website as well, not just your website.  Before asking for link-swap exchanges, think about how your website is relevant to theirs, in business industry, content and location. Do you complement them? Or are you their competitor? What is their page rank and what is yours?

Be careful who you ask a link from, and be careful what online sites and directories you give your details to. You don’t want to be scammed, nor do you want your website to be hacked. The last thing you want is for search engines banning you for spamming, or rating your site less popular.

Other methods of Link Building include using methods of guest blogging and forum commenting, business directories, social media, PR News releases and more but I can’t spill all the secrets here.

Many people will use shortcuts and software programs to get a faster, cheaper result but still charge you premium prices. The truth is, you can be taught how to maintain your own basic link building for your sites independently.

So if you want to expand your digital knowledge and know how search engines will instead celebrate you, don’t hesitate to contact me through the Adcorp website. I’m their resident link builder.
